Austrian Lacrosse Open 2019

This year’s Austrian Lacrosse Open took place for the 14th time on the 25th and 26th of May in Vienna. This year also brought some big changes to the tournament.

For the first time, we were able to welcome all teams to our new home at FC Stadlau. The warm may weather allowed the full use of all facilities, such as the swimming pool with a view on the field was a real highlight.

High expectations for a weakened team

It was that time of the year again when 24 teams from all over the world come to Radotin to compete to see which team is best. The Vienna Monarchs competed in the Aleš Hřebeský Memorial Tournament for the 12th time, this instance without the help from their Czech friends from Pardubice. It was an event for the National Box Team to learn and grow together. Unfortunately, a few experienced players were missing because of injury and sickness.

AHM 2019: Battle for the #1

On Wednesday our mens team is going to the annual Ales Hrebesky Memorial in the wonderful city of Radotin, Praha. In preparation for the upcoming Boxlacrosse World Cup in September, some of our colleagues from the national team will be supporting us. Also included are two of our coaches Julian Kolb and Jacob Safarik, who came specially from Canada.

Monarchs – Wolves Vol 2.0

Just another day in Bratislava. This time the Monarchs had a whole week to prepare for a single game on this particular Sunday, on which they were dying to prove that they were able to beat the Junior squad reigning from Prague they had previously lost to this season.

Isarbox 2019 - Titelverteidigung

After many attempts and close final matches, we, the Vienna Monarchs Men, could win the Isar Box for the first time last year. So our goal for this year was clear: to defend our title! As an additional challenge, we had to cope with the loss of some players due to the flu wave. We had to play with only seven field players and one goalkeeper.

Saturday 02.02.

On this day, we received support from the Austrian national team player Peter Lucchini (thanks!) and were thus a total of nine players.

Monarchs in Belgrad

Together with 2 players from Graz, 5 Monarchs made their way to Belgrade on Friday morning to take part in the Zombies Cup. At this point, we would like to thank all the players of the other teams who were available as pick-ups and supported us, as well as the zombies from Belgrade for organizing the tournament.

First 2 Away Games in NBLL

On the second Weekend of March we had the great opportunity to play against LCC Radotin (the presumably best team in Europe) and their youth team LCC Wolves in our 5th and 6th game of the NBLL.

The harsh weather conditions already started on the drive up to Radotin, but a little rain couldn't lower the motivation of our men's team.
