Dear Lacrosse players and fans!

We cordially invite you to the gameday of the Austrian Lacrosse League on Sunday, 26 June 2016.

Games will be played at the artificial turf field of FC Hellas Kagran venue (Natorpgasse 2, 1220 Vienna).

On Saturday, March 19, the Lady Monarchs met at the ungodly hour of 9.45 for a two-day training camp. The following six hours were all about Lacrosse and preparing for the upcoming season. After warm-up Theresa introduced us to the art of body defense. Direct physical contact with the opponent and the correct positioning of one's body are vital to a good body defense.

Niki taught us the most important moves in offense and we practiced their correct execution. Soon our goalie had her hands – and her stick – full and had some very nice saves.

The Austrian Lacrosse Association (ÖLaxV) offered a training for Lacrosse Youth Coaches - Level 1 for the first time ever in 2016. Eight Monarchs did not want to miss this opportunity and spent the two weekends of January 16/17 and March 12/13 together with other participants and instructor Richi Hauer in the name of lacrosse and intercrosse. After very interesting theory and practice units the participants had to pass a theoretical as well as practical exam. All Monarchs passed these exams successfully and may now call themselves Youth Coaches - Level 1 for lacrosse and intercrosse.

There is a test practise for those who want to try Lacrosse!
Everybody is welcome (women and men, from age 14).
We meet in the gym of VS Schönngasse; just pack your sports outfit and off we go!

In fall 2015 the small Belgian city of Ghent was the venue for the "Champion's League of Lacrosse" for the third time in a row. 24 European champion teams faced each other over a weekend at 4 playing fields to determine who’ll be the European champion of Lacrosse. Including for the first time the women's and the men's team of the Vienna Monarchs after both teams won the Austrian Lacrosse League in 2015.

One of the first events on the annual Lacrosse-calendar is the IsarBox tournament in Munich. For many years, the German Bundeswehr organizes one of the biggest box lacrosse tournament in Germany on their university campus and the Vienna Monarchs are frequent visitors.

Vienna Monarchs Men - 4th Place

Last year, the Monarchs came with a strong team full of experienced players and remained unbeaten up until the final where they lost to the home team. In 2016 many of the new players took the chance to try out Box-Lacrosse and gain game experience.

In the course of the Monarchs-Christmas party on 4th of December, MVP (Most Valuable Player), ROTY (Rookie Of The Year) and the men's MVA (Most Advanced Player) of the previous year were honoured. They were elected by their teammates.
