Invitation to the annual general meeting of the Vienna Monarchs - 1. Lacrosse Verein Wien

In 2018 again, a delegation of the Vienna Monarchs made their way to the capital of European boxlacrosse – Radotin, Prague – to participate in one of the most prestigious international lacrosse tournaments. The 25th and so far biggest edition, with 24 teams out of 14 countries, opened its gates. A couple of last minute injuries and a broken-down car left 7 feisty fighters alone (and without jerseys) to compete against the home team and last years champion.

For the 9th time, a lacrosse club from Vienna made its way to the annual „Isar Box Lacrosse Tournament“ in Munich. From 2008 – 2010, the Vienna Cherokees men’s team and 2011 – 2012 even two teams were sent to the legendary indoor tournament from the Austrian capital to the beer-capital of Germany. In 2012 the Vienna Cherokees were able to celebrate a 4th place as their best result. Speaking of celebrations, partying was always a big part of the tournament experience in Munich. Although people grew older, we still had major impacts on and off the field for the 9th time this year.

The year 2017 has passed and while the majority of the population was still curing their hangovers, 17 highly motivated Monarchs made their way to Budapest to put their new-years-resolutions into practice at the 2018 New Years Cup: It was the first tournament experience for a few, some had their first games ever in their young career. Other simple wanted a good start into an exciting Lacrosse-year 2018. The roster was made up by mostly rookies with a couple of vetereans. So the main goal was to get the engine running and gain experience.

In the Season 2017/18, the Austrian League is combined with the Czech for the Women's teams to have more competiton and variety!  

We are happy to host the first mixed gamday in Vienna!

Last weekend, for the fifth time in a row, the Ken Gallucio Cup, the so called Champions League of European Lacrosse, has taken place in Gent, Belgium. All national champions were invited to compete to become the best club team in Europe. Being the champion of the Austrian Lacrosse League 2017, we qualified for the tournament to represent our country at this event.

The draw placed us in a group with Zürich Lions and the national champions of Finland, Turku Titans. On Saturday morning we played Turku Titans. After playing strong defense and efficient offense, the score was 3-9.

Lacrosse will be promoted in the course of the “Wiener Ferienspiel” on August 19, 2017 from 9 am to 12 pm!

If you are interested in trying Lacrosse or Intercrosse (soft version of Lacrosse; suitable for kids), just take your sports gear (especially proper shoes) and come across to us!
