For the first time in the history of our club, with a little help from Carinthia and Tyrol, the monarchs participated in the National Box Lacrosse League.
Our first opponent was Malešice from Prague.
After a balanced start of the game we finished the first half with a 7-4 lead, which we extended to a 11-7 in the third quarter. After three quick goals by our experienced opponent from Prague, which resulted in our lead being reduced to one goal (11-10). Both teams were eager to win but neither could take the win in regular time (12-12), so the game had to go into sudden-death overtime. After 39 seconds Malešice exploited a mistake by our defence to score the game winning goal.

The second game of the weekend followed up on Sunday against the Old Dogs from Plzen.
Like yesterday’s game it was a head to head race that saw us being down 6-9 by the end of the third quarter. What the team learned yesterday was how fast you can equalize a game, but this time it was the other way around. So, after 5 minutes we scored the equalizer (9-9). Again, this game was a hard fight for the win. After 3 quick goals by Plzen and one by us, the game was at 10-12 and we only had 5 minutes to go. For one last time this weekend the team had to pull itself together and fight back. It paid off and the game was tied after 60 minutes. Another OT! After an illegal procedure during the face-off by Plzen, followed up by a wonderful offensive play by our offense, Martin Neubauer scored after just 11 seconds. This was our first win in the NBLL!
