We came to Radotin, a s small suburb of a rather big town in czech republic, at around 1 p.m. local time, a.k.a. Central European Summer Time. Warm 20°C and a scent of musk was in the air. The twenty degrees did not bother us because we were looking forward to grab some beers. But first things first: the Norwegian newcomer team Grizzlies (NOR) were our opponents. Only half of our team was there but that did not change the passion and so a couple of young, motivated Monarchs took over. And the scoreboard showed success, from Marcel to Max, everybody stepped up! Monarchs 13:5 Grizzlies!
So we deserved our first beer of the day and a second for some Dutch courage because our second opponent was Czech powerhouse LCC Radotin (CZE). We lost, no further details needed.

A look at the schedule showed our opponents for the next day: LCC Wolves (CZE) und Menschner Men (USA). A close game against the strong youth team from Radotin was lost 4:5. Just in time for the last game of the day, the veteran Monarchs arrived. We played a good game against the American team Menschner Men and despite being up for the majority of the game, we couldn’t take it over the full length of the game.
And what do Austrians do at night in the Czech Republic? Right! Getting a lot of Mexican food. A lot of it. Beer and boardgames concluded the evening for a tired bunch of Monarchs.

Quinto:
5th or 9th, that was the question.
Two close games were waiting for the Monarchs on the last tournament day. First we played the Lahti BoxMonkeys (FIN) a Finnish team from Finland. Because one of us was able to speak Finnish because he’s a Fin, we knew their tactics and we finished them! Score: 6:5 for us.
For the fifth place we squared up against the Old Dogs Pilzen. Another close game with the better ending for us.
