The Lady Monarchs returned from Belgium with an awesome and well deserved fifth place at the Lacrosse Champions League, the Ken Galluccio Cup 2016!
They started well into the tournament with a high win (16:1) against Kosynierki Wrocław from Poland which was followed by a bitter loss (0:18) against LCC Radotín who turned out second over-all in the end of the #kgc16. Later in the day the team had to play the German Champions DHC Hannover e.V. without the help of captain Nicole, but they held up a good fight against this strong team. The Monarchs still lost the game 4:8 which led them to a deciding game against the University team from Norway, HiOA Lacrosse on Sunday.
To build up the required strenght and teamspirit for the last day of the tournament the team went for a dinner together, enjoying the beautiful old town of Ghent and delicous waffles on the way.
The team was complete once more for the games on Sunday and they played a structured and concentrated first game all the way through - resulting in a 9:2 win against HiOA and the chance to defend the fifth place of last year's KGC.
In a heated game against Domstad Devils - Utrecht Lacrosse the Lady Monarchs once more profited from their well attuned defense and their playful and creative offense and won 7:3, resulting in the fifth place of 12 teams!
Congratulations to the team and coaches and a big "Thank you" to all the supporters and fans!!
