Austrian Lacrosse Open 2010 – Ein Rückblick
Sensationelle Stimmung beim größten Lacrosse-Turnier Österreichs
Bereits zum 6. Mal fanden 2010 die Austrian Lacrosse Open statt, und das mit vollem Erfolg. Unter dem Motto „Life ist too short to play normal sports!“ organisierten die Vienna Monarchs ein Turnier der Extraklasse. Das Wochenende von 14. bis 16. Mai 2010 war ein riesiges Sport-Spektakel.
12 Herren- und 6 Damenteams
Obwohl das Turnier bereits im letzten Jahr für einiges Aufsehen in der europäischen Lacrosse-Landschaft gesorgt hat, wurde der Qualitätsmaßstab für dieses Jahr noch höher angesetzt. Zwölf Herren- und sechs Damenteams widmeten sich dem schnellsten Sport auf zwei Beinen. Darunter Mannschaften aus Österreich, Bulgarien, Kanada, der Tschechischen Republik, Dänemark, Deutschland, Slowenien und Großbritannien. Mit diesem Aufgebot an internationalen Teams steigert sich das Niveau des Turniers von Jahr zu Jahr. Die wachsende Teilnehmerzahl von über 200 Spielerinnen und Spielern unterstreicht die perfekte Organisation sowie die internationale Bekanntheit und Beliebtheit des Lacrosse-Events.
Party-Feeling
Eine sensationelle Stimmung gab es auch abseits des Spielfeldes – nämlich bei den ALO-Partys. Den Beginn machte die Welcome Party am Segelstrand. Am nächsten Tag wurde dann der erste Spieltag abends mit einem tollen BBQ gebührend am Platz beendet. Nicht zu toppen war allerdings abermals die ALO-Player’s Party im ALLiN Club. Zu tollen Beats und erstklassigen Lacrosse-Pics bebte der Club bis in die frühen Morgenstunden.
Sieger
Als Sieger bei den Damen ging 2010 das Team mit der weitesten Anreise hervor, nämlich die Hamburg Warriors. Sie setzten sich in einem spannenden Finale gegen das Damen-Team aus Prag durch. Die Vienna Lady Monarchs erreichten den 5. Platz. Bei den Herren konnte sich das Österreichische Nationalteam gegen die Prager Herren den Titel erkämpfen. Die Vienna Monarchs Herren schlugen sich wacker und landeten auf dem 6. Platz.

Sensational atmosphere at the largest lacrosse event in Austria
In 2010, the Austrian Lacrosse open took place for the sixth time and it was a huge success. Under the motto “Life is too short to play normal sports!” the Vienna Monarchs organized a tournament in a class of its own. The weekend from 14 to 16 of May was a big sport spectacle.
12 men teams and 6 women teams
Even though the event caused a sensation in the European lacrosse country the year before, the standards for this year were set even higher. 12 men teams and 6 ladies teams devoted themselves to the fastest sport on two legs. The tournament included teams from Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Slovenia and Great Britain. Since there are a lot of international teams, the level of the tournament rises year after year. The growing number of participants of more than 200 players emphasizes the perfect organization as well as the international famosity and popularity of lacrosse events.
Party-Feeling
There was also a great ambiance off the field – namely at the ALO parties. They began with the welcome party at the “Segelstrand”. The first game day which took place the next day ended with a great bbq on the field. Hard to top was the ALO player’s party in the ALLiN club. With its awesome beats and great lacrosse-pics the people celebrated until early morning hours.
Champions
In 2010, the women of the Hamburg Warriors won. In an exciting final they could prevail against the women of the Prague team. The Vienna Lady Monarchs reached the 5th place. The men of the Austrian national team could scramble a victory against the men from Prague. The Vienna Monarchs men team did also well and landed the 6th place.
